The Chaya Cherry Bomb / Cherry Red Toe Stop is a combination of grippy natural rubber paired with long-lasting and durable synthetic components.

The flat head stopper with its wide surface area of 48mm in diameter provides stability and a predictable bite needed for acceleration and fast stops. Cherry Bomb stoppers are available with either a long or short aluminium cast hollow stem.

Short stems are widely used in park skating but also skaters who like to dance prefer to use a stopper with a short stem. Long stem toe stops are preferred among derby players and are also used for lifestyle skates. The Chaya Cherry Bomb toe stops won’t leave marks on the floor and work great on all kinds of surfaces including wood, sport court, concrete and asphalt.

What is a toe stop on roller skates?

A toe stop is a small, (often) cylindrical piece of rubber or plastic that is attached to the front of roller skates. It is used to help the skater slow down and stop and also to assist with balance and maneuverability.

What are the different types of toe stops for roller skates?

The three types of toe stops available for roller skates are adjustable toe stops, bolt-on (or fixed) toe stops, and jam plugs

How do I choose the right toe stops for my roller skates?

Firstly, you will need to determine if your skates fit bolt-on toe stops or adjustable toe stops (they will only fit one or the other). From there, choosing the right toe stops will depend on your personal preference, skating style and skating surface.

What are the main things to consider when choosing toe stops?

  • Shape (Rounded vs Flat) - Rounded toe stops offer smoother transitions, while flat toe stops provide more stability and surface area for braking and pushing off.
  • Material (Hard vs Soft) - Hard material toe stops offer greater durability and longevity but have less grip, while soft material toe stops provide more grip but wear down faster.
  • Size (Big vs Small) - Small toe stops are more maneuverable and agile but offer less surface area for braking and pushing off, while large toe stops provide greater stability and surface area for braking and pushing off but can hinder agility.

What are jam plugs and what are they used for?

Roller skate jam plugs are small, solid plugs that replace toe stops and are mainly used for jam skating or other skating styles where bulky toe stops would hinder movement. Despite belonging to the "toe stop" category, they are not intended to help in stopping or slowing down.

How often should I replace my toe stops?

The lifespan of your toe stops will depend on how often you use your skates, the surface you are skating on, as well as the toe stop materal. You should replace your toe stops if they show significant wear, damage, or reduced grip. Signs of wear or damage can include a flattened or uneven shape, cracks or chips, and loss of grip on the skating surface.
